Hemmed Terms of Sale

Last updated October 22, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Scaile Studios LLC, a Missouri limited liability company ("Scaile Studios", "we", "us"), the maker of Hemmed. They cover downloading, trying and buying Hemmed on hemmed.app. Your use of the app itself is also covered by the Hemmed End User License Agreement (the "EULA") at hemmed.app/eula, which forms part of these terms. By downloading, installing or buying Hemmed, you agree to these terms.

1. Who sells Hemmed

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

When you buy Hemmed, you buy it from Paddle, and Paddle's Buyer Terms also apply to your purchase. Scaile Studios is the maker of Hemmed and supplies the software and license key to you after purchase. For help using Hemmed, contact us at support at hemmed dot app.

2. What you are buying

Hemmed is a macOS menu bar app that lets you hide and show menu bar icons.

3. Free trial

Hemmed includes a 14-day free trial with all features, starting the first time you open the app. No payment details are needed. From the second day of the trial, Hemmed shows a reminder window once a day with the days remaining and options to buy or enter a license key. When the trial ends, Hemmed stops hiding icons and shows all of them until you enter a license key. Using the keyboard shortcut, Configure or Pinned Actions then opens the license prompt. Your layout, pins and settings are kept. Please use the trial to confirm Hemmed works on your Mac before you buy.

4. Placing an order

You order through Paddle's checkout, which shows the product, the total price including tax, and the fact that this is a one-time payment before you confirm. You can review and correct your details in the checkout before paying. Paddle emails you a receipt. Our license key email is normally sent within minutes of payment. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder, then email support at hemmed dot app.

5. Refunds

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. You can ask for a full refund within 30 days of your purchase date, for any reason. See our Refund Policy at hemmed.app/refunds for how to ask. In short:

This guarantee is in addition to, and does not limit, any refund or withdrawal rights you have under the law where you live.

6. Your license

Your rights to use Hemmed are set out in the EULA. In summary, your license lets you use Hemmed on up to 3 Macs at a time that you own or control. To move it, choose Deactivate This Mac in Hemmed's Settings on a Mac you no longer use. If you cannot reach that Mac, Hemmed can remove the oldest activation for you, once every 7 days. You may not share, sell or publish your license key, or get around Hemmed's licensing or trial. Your license covers the major version you purchased and all of its updates. Future major versions may require a separate purchase.

Your one-time purchase licenses the features of Hemmed that run locally on your Mac. At our discretion, we may offer online or cloud-based services, features that carry ongoing costs (such as third-party processing or usage-based services), or optional add-ons, including in an update to your version. These are not included in your one-time license and may require a separate purchase or subscription or be subject to usage limits. We will tell you before you use or buy them.

7. License checks

While Hemmed is running it confirms your license with our license service about once a day. It keeps working offline for up to 30 days after the last successful check, after which hiding pauses until Hemmed can check in again. See our Privacy Policy at hemmed.app/privacy for what these checks send. We may deactivate a key that is refunded, charged back, shared publicly or used against these terms.

8. macOS changes

Hemmed relies on macOS features that Apple can change. A macOS update may change or limit how Hemmed works (for example, on macOS 27, hiding icons also hides some system items such as Focus, Now Playing and Screen Mirroring). We will make reasonable efforts to keep Hemmed working on current macOS versions but cannot promise it always will.

9. Warranty and liability

Apart from the 30-day money-back guarantee and any rights you have by law, Hemmed is provided "as is", as described in the EULA. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for anything related to Hemmed is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Christian County, Missouri (including the federal courts serving that county), and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of mandatory consumer laws where you live and may bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page when we do. The terms in effect when you bought your license continue to apply to that purchase.
